DIY Barn Door

sparksomediy

When we moved into our last house, I had dreams of making this beautiful barn door for our master to separate our bathroom. But budget and kids had other plans. So when quarantine hit and I made my X Brace Console Table I knew I it was time to tackle this project. Due to having an unusual door opening I was never able to find a premade door to fit. So I went to my trusty Pinterest and found a tutorial I loved, adjusted it and went for it. My opening was roughly 32"x 96". So I used a full 8' sheet of plywood as the base. Unfortunately this was before I wanted to share all this with you so I didn't document any of it other than pictures.

Jenna Sue Design had a tutorial for an sliding X barn door. So with my newfound confidence I went for it. I ordered the track hardware off amazon as well as the door hardware. I painted it Behr Starless Night. It was absolutely stunning. I used a 1x4 for the header above the door so that I didn't have to drill the hardware into a stud, just the header. Can't wait to build the next set in our new house!

Here's the link to the tutorial:
