It has been a minute. Living with family with two small children is definitely harder than I thought it would be. Especially in a house that isn't and hasn't been baby proofed. Just makes tasks like working, blogging or taking on projects that much harder. I have to make sure the kiddos are fully settled before attempting anything. That being said... I have finally finished the rock wall that will go on the end of my son's bed!
Hallelujah!
So let's start at the beginning... while waiting for our new house to finish I have had a lot of time on my hands to come up with ideas for the new house. Lots of projects and fun DIY's. This was one of them. I wanted to give my son a little something special in his new room. Our family has a rough past year and I want to give him a little something special. He's very into "Legend of Zelda's, Link" so we're aiming for making his room semi themed around that. He's very into climbing so I figured what better way to feed his passion than to make him a rock climbing wall just for his bed. I didn't want to attach it to the wall because I don't want to be locked in to planning our furniture around it. So let's get to it!

I started by buying rock climbing holds from amazon.com the ones I purchased are no longer available but there are many to choose from. The one I ordered had 25 colorful hand holds and a knotted rope that came with it. It came with all the hardware needed to assemble it.

Next, I went to home depot and bought 4'x8', 3/4" OSB Particle Board and 1/2" Plywood. I had home depot cut them down to the length I needed.
I took them home and glued them together and secured it with a few screws. I then cut it down to the width I needed with a circular saw.

Sanded and painted it to match his bed!
Now it was time to add the hand holds. Those were pretty easy.

I placed them where I wanted. Marked the holes then drilled with the half inch drill bit. Once the holes were drilled, I attached the hand holes with the provided hardware. Easy Peasy!

Now it'll just sit in the garage till we get to the new house in April and I can attach it to his bed. I'll update with how I do that when we get there!
